Salzburg Unique – Selected Stories of Salzburg

Salzburg Unique gives us a multitude of views and insights into the art and cultural history of Salzburg. As the title suggests, the exhibition covers topics that make Salzburg unique. They were chosen by the Salzburg Museum especially with its collection departments in mind, which range from classical antiquity to the present day and include around 600,000 objects. The Salzburg Museum has chosen nearly 200 of them for Salzburg Unique in order to tell ten stories about Salzburg in the subsequent tour.

While roaming through the historical epochs, the exhibition aims to cast a multifaceted light on Salzburg. It spotlights a unique cultural region, which has been shaped by human beings for centuries. We encounter some of these aspects today as cultural heritage, others as history’s warning for the modern world and our actions, and much of it as an assignment also to ensure a future for Salzburg’s uniqueness.
